Imagine travelling over rocky and snow covered mountains and through the searing heat of the tropics, wearing ankle length skirts, jackets with long huge sleeves and binding corsets! The brave and courageous women of the Victorian Period did just that!
We are delighted to welcome Roger Mitchell who will introduce us to the ‘Fiesty Ladies’ – Women travellers from Victorian Britain. Roger will take us on a world tour in exciting company which includes Victoria herself in the Scottish Highlands to Mary Kingsley in West Africa and Isabella Bird in the Rocky Mountains and Hawaii.
Roger Mitchell MA (Oxon) studied History at Oxford and Fine Art at Leeds. He then travelled and studied in the USA with a Churchill Award.
